Type of Galvanized steel sheet & plate
There are two predominant types of galvanized steel: hot-dipped galvanized and electroplate galvanized. The hot-dipped process takes a steel surface and dips it in molten pure zinc. Zinc plating or electroplating takes a steel surface and applies a thin coating of zinc using an electric current. Electroplating is a thinner less resilient surface and is not recommended for exterior use or heavily trafficked interior use.

Galvanizing Workshop in Metal in China®
Galvanization is a manufacturing process that utilizes zinc to coat a flat piece of metal, resulting in galvanized steel sheet or galvanized steel plate. The galvanization process is commonly applied using a hot-dip method that protects and prevents corrosion and rusting. The galvanized zinc outer layer protects the substrate metal by acting as a barrier to corrosive elements; the outer zinc coating sacrifices itself to protect the inner steel, resulting in a long-lasting and high-quality steel product.

Galvanized Steel Manufacturing Process
With the most advanced facilities and technology, Metal in China® has a set of manual and automatic production system for galvanized coils, which can meet customers’ requirements for different parameters and high performance of products.

1. Pre-Treatment Process
Some rolling oil and other contaminants remain on the surface of cold rolled steel sheets following processing. These are removed by passing the electrically charged sheet through an alkaline solution which induces an electrochemical reaction.
2. Annealing
The material properties of the pre-treated steel sheet can be altered and improved through recrystallization during the annealing process.
3. Hot-Dip Galvanizing
After passing through the annealing furnace, steel sheets are dipped into a zinc pot where molten Zn is coated onto the surface. The desired coating weight is achieved by removing excess zinc before solidification with high-pressure air from an air knife.
4. Galvannealing
The surface of a steel sheet, after the air knife, can be coated with a zinc compound prior to reheating in an annealing process. Zn atoms diffuse into the Fe to create a Zn-Fe series alloy.
5. SPM & Chemical Treatment
In order to achieve a flat surface and an elegant finish, the steel sheet is processed with a skin pass mill. In order to prevent the white rust, which often forms on the surface of activated zinc, and to improve corrosion resistance, the surface is coated with a Cr-free resin.
6. Inspection & Coiling
Located at the line’s exit section are a side trimmer, inspection table, oil coating machine and coiling equipment. At this station, all products are inspected and judged relative to material specifications required by the customer.

A36 is a widely preferred and versatile low-carbon low-cost steel known for its yield strength (36,000 psi) and excellent machinability. A36 can elongate to about 20% of its original length, and is commonly used for columns, beams, decking and finish elements.
I-beam is stronger in bending than H-beam because its flanges provide resistance against the load and support each other when the beam bends. The flanges of an H-beam don’t have this advantage, so they tend to buckle under high loads and fail more easily under bending stress.
While both carbon fiber and steel are supremely resistant to deformation, steel is far denser and carbon fiber is about five times lighter in weight, making it roughly five times stronger than steel in this respect.
