Product Description
Types of Galvanized steel coil
According to the base material, galvanized coils are divided into hot-rolled galvanized coils and cold-rolled galvanized coils in Metal in China®. Hot-rolled galvanized coils are coated with a zinc layer on the surface of hot-rolled carbon-coated steel coils, and are tightly adhered to the steel through the formation of an iron-zinc alloy bonding layer; cold-rolled galvanized coils are the opposite of hot-rolled galvanized coils , the base material is a cold-rolled carbon steel coil coated with zinc. At Metal in China®, you can also choose cold rolled carbon steel coil and hot rolled carbon steel coil.

cold Rolled galvanized coil
According to the surface process, Metal in China® manufactures hot-dipped galvanized coils and electro-galvanized coils.Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) is the process of coating fabricated steel by immersing it in a bath of molten zinc.Electro galvanized steel(EGI) is carbon steel with a corrosion-resistant zinc coating applied to one or both of its sides by electro-deposition.

Schematic Diagram of Layer Structure
Galvanized steel coil consists of basic steel (cold-rolled or hot-rolled steel), zinc coating (20-275g/m2-single side, surface treatment layer (passivation, oil coating, lacquer, phosphorous, etc.)

Feature of Spangle
Metal in China® has a large inventory of regular spangle, small spangle and zero spangle galvanized coils, and large spangle galvanized coils need to be customized. production process of Galvanized steel coil
Galvanized Steel Coils is specially designed steel sheets that are employed in several furbishing and manufacturing purposes. Steel coils are thin sheets that can be rolled up into incessant coils.
With the most advanced facilities and technology, Metal in China® has a set of manual and automatic production system for galvanized coils, which can meet customers’ requirements for different parameters and high performance of products.

1. Pre-Treatment Process
Some rolling oil and other contaminants remain on the surface of cold rolled steel sheets following processing. These are removed by passing the electrically charged sheet through an alkaline solution which induces an electrochemical reaction.
2. Annealing
The material properties of the pre-treated steel sheet can be altered and improved through recrystallization during the annealing process.
3. Hot-Dip Galvanizing
After passing through the annealing furnace, steel sheets are dipped into a zinc pot where molten Zn is coated onto the surface. The desired coating weight is achieved by removing excess zinc before solidification with high-pressure air from an air knife.
4. Galvannealing
The surface of a steel sheet, after the air knife, can be coated with a zinc compound prior to reheating in an annealing process. Zn atoms diffuse into the Fe to create a Zn-Fe series alloy.
5. SPM & Chemical Treatment
In order to achieve a flat surface and an elegant finish, the steel sheet is processed with a skin pass mill. In order to prevent the white rust, which often forms on the surface of activated zinc, and to improve corrosion resistance, the surface is coated with a Cr-free resin.
6. Inspection & Coiling
Located at the line’s exit section are a side trimmer, inspection table, oil coating machine and coiling equipment. At this station, all products are inspected and judged relative to material specifications required by the customer.
Galvanized Steel Coil Applications
We offer a wide range of galvanized steel products according to our customers’ needs in terms of plating, quantity, lubrication and post-processing. Galvanized steel offers good corrosion resistance, formability, weldability, paintability and other useful properties and is increasingly used in many fields including civil engineering, construction and automotive.

Galvanized steel coil are mainly applies in some professions, such as constructions. For the constructions, it mainly used as roofs of some industrial, residential constructions to preventing from corrosion. For the light industry, it used to produce outer cover of electrical appliances, chimney, kitchen utensil and corrosion-proved parts of automobiles. And it is also used as storage and transport in farming, animal husbandry, fishery area.

Additional steel processing services
Cut large coils into small coils or Strip
For carbon steel coils, we offer the additional service of cutting large coils into smaller coils or strips. For container transportation, the loading weight of each container usually cannot exceed 26 tons, and each large roll is usually around 28 tons.
At seaports, each large steel coil is usually cut into 3 smaller coils for easy loading into containers. For bulk carrier transportation, the roll weight is usually required to be less than 18 tons, so most of the time, it is also necessary to cut a large roll into 2 small rolls.

flat coils into steel plate
For the final application, the coil needs to be flattened and cut into steel plates, so we flatten the coil and cut the coil into the required size of steel plate. In order to save the cost of container loading, it is loaded into a 20-foot container, so the cutting length is below 5800mm, usually cut into lengths of 2440mm and 5800mm according to requirements, and the width is usually 1220mm and 1500mm. After cutting the steel coil into steel plates, we can do black paint on the surface of the plates to make the plates rust-proof.
frequently asked questions
The galvanized coil is employed outdoor, as it shows anti rusting tendencies. Most significantly, it is used in constructing strong roofing system. Galvanized steel coil can be used outside because of its natural ability to avoid rust or corrosion. The coil itself is usually available in different dimensions.
Galvanized steel products are made by cleansing and heat-treating rolled coils before dipping them into a bath of molten zinc. Through this process, the coils are plated with zinc only (GI), zinc and iron (GA) or zinc, aluminum and magnesium (PosMAC).
Galvanized steel is a carbon steel that has been coated with zinc. The most common method of zinc coating is the hot-dip process. The hot-dip process consists of submerging the carbon steel into a molten zinc bath (approximately 680 degrees Fahrenheit).
