The galvanizing process can be done using various methods, including hot-dip galvanizing, electro-galvanizing, and zinc spraying, depending on the specific application and requirements of the steel product. Each method has its advantages and is suited for different types of steel and environmental conditions. Hot-dip galvanizing is the most common and widely used method for galvanizing steel.
As China galvanized steel manufacturer and supplier, Metal in China® produces galvanized steel sheet, galvanized steel coils and galvanized steel pipes using continuous hot-dip galvanizing method, which has higher production cost-effectiveness.
Next, Robin, an expert in Metal in China® galvanizing technology, will introduce the conventional galvanizing processes.

Hot-dip Galvanizing is a process used to protect steel and iron from corrosion by applying a layer of zinc to the metal’s surface. The zinc coating acts as a sacrificial anode, which means it corrodes in preference to the underlying steel, thus preserving the steel from rust and other forms of corrosion.
Hot dip galvanizing process steps
1. Surface Preparation — Decreasing and Chemical Clean
2. Fluxing — Helps to Wet The Surface of The Steel
3. Galvanizing Bath — Immersion of Steel into Bath of Molten Zinc
4. Reaction and Coating Formation
5. Cooling and Quenching — Solidify The Zinc Coating
6. Inspection and Finishing
1. Surface Preparation
The steel surface must be cleaned thoroughly to ensure proper adhesion of the zinc coating. This is typically done by a combination of chemical cleaning and mechanical techniques such as degreasing, pickling, and rinsing.

2. Fluxing
After cleaning, the steel is immersed in a flux solution to remove any remaining oxides and to promote the wetting of the steel surface by the molten zinc.
Metal in China® (XINTUOYUAN) is a China galvanized steel sheet manufacturer with rich experience and advanced galvanized production lines. Over the years, advancements in galvanizing technology improved the efficiency and quality of the galvanizing process. Innovations in zinc metallurgy and coating techniques allowed for better control of the coating thickness and quality, making galvanized steel more reliable and cost-effective.

3. Galvanizing Bath
The prepared steel is immersed into a bath of molten zinc at a temperature typically around 450°C (842°F). The bath consists of pure molten zinc with small amounts of additives to control the coating’s thickness and appearance.
The finish of hot dipped galvanized coating can vary based on several factors, including the cooling and solidification process of the molten zinc during galvanization and any subsequent treatments or processes applied to the coated steel. Here are some common types of galvanized coating finishes: Standard Spangle, Large Spangle, Small Spangle, Zero(no) Spangle and Bright Spangle.

4. Reaction and Coating Formation
When the steel is immersed in the molten zinc, a metallurgical reaction takes place between the iron in the steel and the zinc, resulting in the formation of a series of zinc-iron alloy layers on the surface of the steel. The coating thickness is dependent on the immersion time in the zinc bath.

5. Cooling and Quenching
Once the desired coating thickness is achieved, the steel is withdrawn from the galvanizing bath. It may be air-cooled or quenched in water or other cooling solutions to solidify the zinc coating.

6. Inspection and Finishing
After cooling, the galvanized steel is inspected for uniformity, coating thickness, and overall quality. The galvanized steel may undergo additional treatments or finishing processes if necessary.
